MORGANTOWN — The Cincinnati Bearcats couldn't have asked for a much better start Saturday afternoon, marching down the field for a touchdown on their opening possession against West Virginia.
After struggling to generate any offense in their 34-7 loss to Arizona two weeks ago, the Bearcats came out determined to establish themselves at the line of scrimmage. Quarterback JC French IV and running back Gi'Bran Payne helped move the football deep into Mountaineer territory, with Cincinnati showing renewed confidence in its rushing attack.
The opening drive is an encouraging sign for a Cincinnati offensive line that struggled badly against Arizona. The Bearcats spent their bye week working to correct those problems, and their first possession against West Virginia suggests that effort may already be paying off.
