COLUMBUS — Ohio State men’s basketball has landed its second four-star prospect in as many days.
Jaxson Davis, a highly regarded point guard from Monarch Academy in Kansas City, committed to the Buckeyes on Friday. According to the 247Sports Composite, Davis is the No. 43 overall player and No. 10 point guard in the 2027 recruiting class.
The commitment comes one day after four-star power forward Deng Ngor became the first member of Ohio State’s 2027 class.
Davis and Ngor visited Columbus during the weekend of Ohio State football’s season opener against Ball State. Apparently, Jake Diebler and his staff made pretty good use of the weekend.
Davis had previously visited Creighton, which emerged as Ohio State’s primary competition. He was also scheduled to visit Iowa and Michigan State before canceling both trips and choosing the Buckeyes.
The 180-pound left-hander gives Ohio State a quick, aggressive lead guard capable of creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Davis excels when attacking the basket, plays with control and has the vision to locate open shooters when opposing defenses collapse.
His speed also translates defensively, where Davis can pressure opposing ballhandlers for the length of the court. He may not possess ideal size, but his quickness, length and competitiveness help compensate for it.
Davis averaged 23.8 points, 5.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 steals as a junior at Warren Township High School in Illinois. He was named Illinois Mr. Basketball in both 2025 and 2026 before transferring to Monarch Academy for his senior season.
He also averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds for Meanstreets during the EYBL regular season this summer.
With Davis running the offense and the 6-foot-8 Ngor providing versatility in the frontcourt, Ohio State now has an impressive inside-out foundation for its 2027 class.
Two days. Two four-star, Top-100 commitments.
Not a bad couple of days for Diebler and the Buckeyes.
