COLUMBUS — Ohio State continued its remarkable recruiting run Thursday as 5-star defensive end Luke Wafle announced his commitment to the Buckeyes, becoming another cornerstone of the program's 2027 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound standout from The Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, selected Ohio State over Penn State, Texas, Florida and USC following an extensive national recruitment. Widely regarded as one of the nation's premier defensive prospects, Wafle is ranked as the No. 1 defensive end and one of the top overall players in the 2027 class.

Wafle's commitment represents another significant recruiting victory for defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who has built a reputation as one of college football's top developers of defensive linemen. Wafle possesses the size, athleticism and versatility to line up at multiple spots along the defensive front, giving Ohio State another disruptive presence for the future.

His pledge also continues a strong run on the recruiting trail for Ryan Day and his staff as the Buckeyes continue assembling one of the nation's highest-rated recruiting classes. Wafle joins a growing list of blue-chip commitments that has Ohio State once again positioned among the country's recruiting elite.

For the Buckeyes, the addition further reinforces a defensive line class loaded with talent and upside. Landing one of the nation's top edge rushers gives Ohio State another player capable of developing into the next standout defender to emerge from Larry Johnson's position room.
