CINCINNATI — For 30 minutes, Cincinnati’s latest Battle for the Victory Bell looked like one the Bearcats would rather forget. Miami returned the opening kickoff 98 yards, built a 28-7 halftime lead at TQL Stadium and put UC’s unbeaten start in serious trouble.
Cincinnati flipped the game after halftime, outscoring the RedHawks 28-3 to earn a 35-31 victory. Allen French threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns and added a score on the ground, while Cole Tabb scored three times, including a 53-yard run that gave UC its first lead with 1:29 remaining.
Miami drove to the Cincinnati 33-yard line on its final possession, but Antwan Peek Jr. strip-sacked Henry McComb and Drew Logan recovered the fumble with 36 seconds left. The win gave the Bearcats a 62-60-7 advantage in the series and completed their biggest second-half comeback since 1996.
Cincinnati Athletics has released a video revisiting the comeback, from Miami’s fast start to Tabb’s game-winning run and the final defensive stop. As you’ll see, this was a Victory Bell game worth watching again:
