COLUMBUS — And finally, the Columbus Crew looked like themselves again Saturday night.

After a difficult stretch that saw results hard to come by, the Crew turned in one of their most complete performances of the season, defeating the Colorado Rapids 3-0 at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field behind goals from Santiago Rodríguez, Gonzalo Tapia and Taha Habroune. 

Columbus controlled much of the match from the opening whistle, dictating possession and pressing the action before finally breaking through in the 22nd minute. Santiago Rodríguez found space in the penalty area and headed home the opening goal, giving the Crew a deserved 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

The Rapids threatened at times after the break, but goalkeeper Patrick Schulte and the back line held up. Schulte made two saves to record his fourth clean sheet of the season as Columbus kept Colorado from finding any rhythm in the attacking third. 

The Crew finally put the match away in the closing minutes.

Substitute Gonzalo Tapia doubled the lead in the 81st minute with a composed finish after a setup from Brais Méndez. Just minutes later, Tapia turned provider, leading a counterattack before slipping a pass to Taha Habroune, who calmly finished in second-half stoppage time to cap the 3-0 victory.

While the three goals grabbed the headlines, Columbus' overall performance was just as encouraging. The Crew outshot Colorado 15-10, held a 54-46 edge in possession and consistently controlled the tempo throughout the evening. More importantly, they defended with discipline, limiting the Rapids to few dangerous opportunities while earning an important three points at home.

The victory was also a milestone for the club, marking the 400th regular-season win in Crew history, making Columbus just the second MLS franchise to reach the milestone.

What's Next: The Crew hit the road Wednesday night for a matchup with D.C. United before returning home next weekend to continue their push up the Eastern Conference standings.
