CINCINNATI — Cincinnati’s latest win followed a familiar script.
The Bearcats fell behind early against Kansas State, trailed 17-10 at halftime, and then completely changed the game after the break. Cincinnati outscored the Wildcats 14-0 in the third quarter on its way to a 31-26 victory at Nippert Stadium and improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2021.
Cole Tabb was at the center of the comeback. He scored all three of Cincinnati’s second-half touchdowns on runs of 5, 30, and 14 yards, while Gi’Bran Payne led the Bearcats with 126 rushing yards. Tabb added 124 of his own as Cincinnati finished with 271 yards on the ground.
The Bearcats tied the game on Tabb’s 5-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter, then took their first lead when he broke free for a 30-yard score later in the period. After Kansas State pulled within four in the fourth quarter, Tabb answered again with a 14-yard touchdown that pushed Cincinnati’s lead to 31-20.
Cincinnati Athletics has now released the latest episode of “The Clifton Cut,” revisiting the comeback from inside Nippert Stadium and capturing the atmosphere as the Bearcats turned a seven-point halftime deficit into another dramatic victory.
As you’ll see, this was another second-half performance worth watching again:
