CINCINNATI — Cincinnati has added another quarterback to its 2027 recruiting class, securing a commitment from Elder High School standout Kaden Estep, who announced Sunday that he was switching his commitment from Miami (Ohio) to the Bearcats.
Estep, a three-star prospect, had been committed to the RedHawks since February. Cincinnati offered him a scholarship on September 27, and the senior quarterback made an official visit to campus Saturday before announcing his decision.
The 6-foot, 175-pound Estep is rated as the nation's No. 67 quarterback and Ohio's No. 53 overall prospect by 247Sports. He also received scholarship offers from Kent State and Toledo.
Estep has put together an impressive career at Elder, becoming the school's all-time leader in passing yards with 6,861. He surpassed former Indiana and Northwestern quarterback Peyton Ramsey, who now serves as Elder's quarterbacks coach.
Through 10 games this season, Estep has thrown for 2,523 yards and 26 touchdowns with just three interceptions, completing more than 73% of his passes. He has also rushed for 780 yards and eight touchdowns, giving Cincinnati a quarterback capable of making plays with both his arm and his legs.
The Elder standout has helped lead the Panthers to an 8-2 record and a berth in the Ohio Division I playoffs. He is also approaching the school's career passing touchdowns record, needing three more to tie Mark Miller's mark of 56.
Estep becomes Cincinnati's second quarterback commitment in the 2027 class, joining Camden Hughes of Texas. His decision also gives Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats another talented local player as they continue building their future roster.
Estep's commitment is verbal and will not become official until he signs with Cincinnati.
