COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew midfielder Dylan Chambost has been named MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 32 following his three-assist performance in Saturday's 4-2 victory over Toronto FC.
The 29-year-old French midfielder became just the sixth player in Crew history to record at least three assists in a regular-season match and the first since Alexandru Ma?an accomplished the feat on March 25, 2023. His three assists also tied for the second-most in a single MLS match this season.
Chambost played a major role in helping Columbus build a 4-0 lead against Toronto. His first assist came in the 21st minute when he delivered a corner kick that Malte Amundsen headed into the net, doubling the Crew's early advantage.
He connected with Amundsen again in the 48th minute, this time sending a low cross into the box following a short corner. Amundsen finished the opportunity for his second goal of the match.
Chambost completed his three-assist performance in the 59th minute, setting up Brooks Lennon for Columbus' fourth goal. It was Lennon's first goal for the Crew, coming just minutes after entering the match.
"I'm proud. Three assists, it's rare, so yeah, I'm really happy to help the team today, and yeah, it was good night," Chambost said after the victory.
The performance brought Chambost's season total to seven assists, one shy of his career-best eight in 2025. It also marked the first MLS Player of the Matchday honor of his career and the first for a Columbus player since Cucho Hernández won the award in 2024.
Chambost's contributions came at an critical time for the Crew, who are fighting to secure a playoff berth. Saturday's victory helped Columbus move into 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 38 points, just one point behind the New York Red Bulls for the final Wild Card position.
The Crew have little room for error with three matches remaining in the regular season. Columbus visits FC Dallas on Wednesday, hosts D.C. United on Saturday, and closes the regular season at Chicago on November 7.
For a team trying to extend its season, Chambost's performance against Toronto couldn't have come at a better time.
