CINCINNATI — The Bengals did not produce their cleanest offensive performance Sunday, but their defense made certain they did not need one.
Cincinnati kept Houston out of the end zone, stopped the Texans on all four of their red-zone possessions and denied all four of their fourth-down attempts during a 20-6 victory at Reliant Stadium. Joe Burrow connected with Ja’Marr Chase for two touchdowns, while Evan McPherson made field goals from 51 and 57 yards as the Bengals improved to 2-0.
Burrow finished with 207 yards and two touchdowns, Chase caught seven passes for 75 yards and both scores, and Cincinnati’s pass rush recorded four sacks during the fourth quarter. The victory sent the Bengals into their locker room with plenty to celebrate before turning their attention toward their first AFC North game of the season.
