MIAMI — FC Cincinnati came away with a huge point Wednesday night, battling Inter Miami to a 2-2 draw in a match that featured three goals in the final 10 minutes. The Orange and Blue overcame a second-half deficit and briefly took the lead before Miami scored a 90th-minute equalizer.
After a scoreless first half, Miami broke through in the 61st minute when Luis Suárez scored from the left side of the penalty area, sending a right-footed shot into the top-right corner. Carlos Casimiro provided the assist, giving the home side a 1-0 advantage.
Cincinnati remained behind until the 80th minute, when Kenji Mboma Dem scored the equalizer with an electrifying left-footed shot from the right side of the box. The shot found the top-left corner after a pass from Evander, with Brian Anunga receiving credit for the secondary assist.
Just six minutes later, Cincinnati took a stunning 2-1 lead when Samuel Gidi scored from outside the penalty area. The defender struck a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner in the 86th minute, with Tom Barlow providing the assist and Evander receiving credit for the secondary assist.
However, Cincinnati couldn't hold the advantage. Miami responded in the 90th minute when Riquelme Fillipi scored from the left side of the penalty area, sending his shot into the bottom-right corner to level the match at 2-2.
The closing minutes remained tense, with Roman Celentano making a save on Suárez in stoppage time. Cincinnati also had one final opportunity when Evander's shot was blocked by Ian Fray in the 95th minute, but neither side could find another goal.
While losing the late lead was frustrating, Cincinnati still secured an important point on the road against one of the league's best teams. The result extended the Orange and Blue's unbeaten streak to three matches following consecutive victories over D.C. United.
