BEREA — The Cleveland Browns continued making adjustments to their practice squad Wednesday, signing defensive tackle Eric Johnson II and releasing defensive end Nadame Tucker.
Johnson, who is entering his fifth NFL season, brings considerable experience to Cleveland. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound lineman was originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Missouri State.
He has appeared in 51 NFL games, spending time with Indianapolis during the 2022, 2023, and 2025 seasons and with New England in 2024. Johnson will wear No. 67 for the Browns.
The signing gives Cleveland another experienced option along the defensive interior, where the team has continued adjusting its depth throughout October. The Browns elevated defensive tackles Sam Kamara and Chris Williams for their October 17 matchup against Baltimore, illustrating how frequently the team has relied on its practice squad for additional defensive-line help.
Johnson's arrival follows several other transactions made Tuesday, when Cleveland signed offensive tackle Andrew Coker, punter Wes Pahl, and safety John Saunders to the practice squad. The Browns also released defensive tackle Chris Williams and tight end Devin Culp while placing wide receiver Bub Means on the practice squad injured list.
Tucker's release creates the opening for Johnson. The former Western Michigan defensive end joined Cleveland earlier this season after originally signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent.
Although Johnson joins the practice squad rather than the active roster, his NFL experience gives the Browns another option should injuries or other roster needs create an opportunity.
