CLEVELAND — The Browns have had some memorable locker room celebrations already this season, but Thursday night’s may have been the best one yet.
Cleveland survived a furious Pittsburgh comeback to beat the Steelers, 27-24, on Andre Szmyt’s 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining. Grant Delpit intercepted Aaron Rodgers on Pittsburgh’s final play, sealing the Browns’ third consecutive victory and improving them to a surprising 3-1.
Afterward, Todd Monken addressed the team in the locker room and handed out game balls to Mike Hall Jr., Denzel Ward, Grant Delpit, Corey Bojorquez, Andre Szmyt and Deshaun Watson. The group represented all three phases of a win that required contributions from just about everyone.
Then Monken saved his most popular announcement for last.
“See you Tuesday!”
The room immediately erupted as the players realized they were getting several days away following a physical Thursday night win over a division rival.
With the Browns sitting at 3-1 and getting some extra time before their next game, there probably was not much else Monken could have said that would have gotten a better reaction:
